american schools never teach anything about australian history
australia could be a piece of rock that fell from space and was colonized by magical talking platypuses and i would never know
I’m pretty sure that’s fairly accurate actually
Don’t forget the numerous creatures with neurotoxins.
To be perfectly honest, Australian schools don’t teach Australian history. Not that well anyway. We get a clip notes version that emphasises a half dozen events/periods in history and barely covers anything else.
Want proof? I took an Australian history subject at university this semester where three-quarters of my class were Australian and of that, only a dozen or so of us knew why the 26th of January was Australia Day. People didn’t know what the Eureka stockade was beyond being something important and the lecturer had to explain what the Stolen Generation was!
And yet every single one of those students knew about ANZAC Day and Gallipoli. Just not which war it was from, why it happened and the fact that it was a failure. Which is kinda an important detail…
we’ve actually done a lot of Australian history in high school - too much if you ask me, but I have no patriotic feelings and would rather learn about exciting stuff than my country
but yeah we’ve done the Eureka Stockade (multiple times), the Stolen Generation (again multiple times), Australia’s involvement in various wars over the years etc. and honestly it seems to me like the curriculum is trying way too hard to involve Australian stuff in every subject all the time especially English this year my goodness

This is Tom Hiddleston. Beautiful, attractive, healthy, perfect man… right?
Wrong.
Tom Hiddleston has a problem.
In 2011, a movie was released in which Tom played the character Loki. Loki is a Norse god of mischief, and the main antagonist in Thor and the recently released film, The Avengers. He does an absolutely fantastic job in both movies, but there’s just one problem.
Tom has been unable to get out of character ever since.
Please reblog to bring awareness to this man. We may not be able to save him, but we can at least show him our support.
THIS WILL NOT MAKE YOUR BLOG UGLY.
In fact, it will make it the complete opposite because holy fuck are you kidding me look at this goddamn guy.
If you don’t reblog this, YOU HAVE NO HEART.
Seriously, this post just breaks my heart. That poor, poor man. C’mon guys. Let’s all reblog this. For Hiddles. God bless him.
